Fire at Manchester Airport investigated
11/01/2007
A fire that broke out at Manchester airport this morning is being investigated by police, according to reports.
The blaze broke out in terminal one on the concourse in the early hours of Thursday morning, causing sprinklers to be turned on, according to the Crewe Guardian.
It states that the terminal had to be fully evacuated due to the amount of water released by the fire system.
Authorities readmitted the public to the terminal at about 04:20am GMT – about three hours after the fire initially broke out.
Police are calling on anyone with information to contact them directly, either through the Airport CID number, or via Crimestoppers.
Manchester Airport recently made headlines for a new eye-scan system which is to be used for security.
However, the system has drawn concerns from analysts who state that it may lead to long delays for passengers.
