German Market returns next week

25/05/2006

The beginning of June sees the return of the German Market and Beer Garden in Albert Square, Manchester.

From Thursday June 1st to Sunday June 18th, Manchester residents will be able choose between a number of regional products, such as schnitzel, sauerkraut and malt beer.

Traders from Germany will be setting up stalls in front of the town hall, adding a continental feel to the city centre.

There will be a supply of German beer and wine, as well as a number of Bavarian cheeses on sale.

Councillor Paul Murphy, executive member for markets, said: "This market is a great event and very popular.

"Manchester's Markets are always warmly received and I am sure that people will enjoy socialising, eating and soaking up the continental atmosphere this summer.

He added "there is plenty to choose from" and that residents "can only hope the Manchester weather shines on the market too".

Albert Square also plays annual host to the German Christmas market that takes place during the festive season.
