Golf legend Faldo invites young amateurs to showcase their talents
08/04/2008
Young golfers in Manchester are being invited by three-times Open Champion Nick Faldo to demonstrate their talent in Heaton Park.
Faldo is touring the country looking for male and female golf stars of tomorrow.
The Faldo Series Qualifiers is coming to the city on April 16th and is open to amateur 18-hole golfers aged between 11 and 21.
The event is free of charge for spectators. Catering facilities are available, including a licensed bar.
Councillor Michael Amesbury said: "The tournament has continued to grow in stature and reputation every year and offers fantastic opportunities for young golfers across Manchester.
"We are delighted to be hosting the qualifiers for the fourth consecutive year as part of our commitment to sports provision throughout the city."
Ultimately, 60 players from around the country will qualify for the Faldo Series grand final at the Celtic Manor Resort in south Wales.
Faldo established the Faldo Series in 1996 in order to bring opportunities to young people through golf.
