Hometown favourites James play comeback gig
24/01/2007
James fans are invited to sit down and enjoy the comeback tour of their favourite band as the group returns in spring.
The band, which was formed at Manchester University, has not toured in six years but has now announced its return to the circuit with a homecoming concert at the MEN Arena at the end of April, reports the Bolton News.
Having toured with The Smiths and been cult favourites at the Hacienda, the band attracted a significant following in the city which led in turn to success on the national stage with hits such as Sit Down and She's a Star in the 90s.
International recognition also greeted the indie band and the Pride of Manchester states that the ambitious album Laid "was an alternative rock hit in the US on the strength of the title track, which became a crossover hit".
The group had originally decided to call it a day at the end of a tour in 2001 after front-man and founding member Tim Booth announced he was leaving the band.
James play Manchester on April 28th and tickets go on sale at the end of this week.
