Manchester Jazz Festival plans revealed
14/06/2007
One of the highlights of this year's Manchester Jazz Festival will be a performance by a group organised by Cinematic Orchastra guitarist Staurt McCallum.
Iconic jazz saxophonist John Surman will join the group, as they perform at St Ann's Church on Thursday July 26th.
Other events will be held across the city from July 21st until July 28th at venues such as the Royal Northern College of Music and Matt and Phred's in the Northern Quarter. The latter describes itself as the only club in the north dedicated to live jazz.
Mike Kane, Manchester City Council's executive member for arts and culture, said: "Manchester is proud to host the Manchester Jazz Festival in its 12th successful year. We are privileged to welcome so many well-respected artists to take part, which raises the international status of the event and increases benefits to the city in terms of tourism and profile."
Over the years, the event has grown from strength to strength, he added.
