Manchester set for 'fantastique' market
02/08/2006
A taste of France will descend on the city of Manchester next month, as the French Market sets up in St Ann's Square for four days in September.
Urging people to "enjoy this gourmet extravaganza", councillor Paul Murphy, executive member for markets, told Manchester's residents they "will be spoilt for choice".
Delivered by Manchester Markets and Team Fantastique, the event will offer shoppers in the city French cheeses, fresh baguettes and a number of local meats.
Councillor Murphy said: "We are working in partnership to deliver this specialist market, paying close attention to providing high quality goods made in accordance with the French traditions."
Geoff Drinkel, from Team Fantastique, added that the organisation was "really looking forward to coming to Manchester", describing the event as "great opportunity to show [its] high quality goods".
French fashions, jewelleries and cosmetics will also be on show and available at the market, which runs from September 6th-10th.
Manchester holds a number of specialised markets every year, including the German Christmas market during the festive season.
