Manchester singer to swing at Heaton Park
04/09/2006
Manchester-born vocalist and swing stylist Cole Page is coming to Greater Manchester on September 9th to participate in the BBC Proms in the Park event at Heaton Park.
Backed by a 17-piece big band, Mr Page, who is admired by luminaries such as Kylie Minogue and Bill Clinton, will lead the pre-BBC Proms in the Park entertainment.
According to Manchester City Council, more than 10,000 people are expected to attend the extravaganza at Heaton Park.
Councillor Mark Hackett said: "The Proms in the Park audience will be spoilt for choice with the list of great acts we have signed up this year.
"We are very proud to present our very own swing star Cole Page to complement Katie Melua's fabulous vocals. It's sure to be a great night in Heaton Park".
In the past, Mr Page has performed at Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's private Christmas party, while in May 2004, the singer was invited to appear in a concert at the Bridgewater Hall with the Band of her Majesty's Royal Marines Scotland.
