'Mr Loophole' released on bail
01/11/2006
Celebrity lawyer Nick Freeman has been released on bail, following his arrest in Greater Manchester.
Police raided Mr Freeman's city centre offices on Monday and he was questioned by police at Pendleton police station on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Also known as the Mr Loophole because of his ability to get famous clients off motoring offences on legal technicalities, the millionaire lawyer has represented David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Mr Freeman said: "At this stage I can't go into any details at all in relation to these allegations, other than to say I am totally innocent of the allegations made against me.
"I can't really expand on it any more. I hope you understand."
According to the Guardian, Mr Freeman, who has also represented a number of non-celebrity clients, has been under investigation by detectives in south Wales for some time.
