Mumbai to get a taste of Manchester

15/10/2008

Manchester delegates have been invited on a business trip to tout companies to India by the city's professional body.

Pro.Manchester has asked financial companies especially, to send representatives on a visit to Mumbai and Pune planned for January, reported Crain's Manchester Business.

Interested parties from small companies would receive financial support from UK Trade & Investment.

It would pay ten per cent of the cost of the whole week, which has been estimated at £3,500 in total.

Manchester businesses have been asked to tap rapidly growing businesses.

Chairwoman of Pro.Manchester and programme director for BT Sue Webster said: "It is imperative that Manchester creates better and stronger trade links with India and continues working to attract investment from this world economy."

Banking, law, tax, insurance and recruitment companies have been encouraged to join the delegation.

The Times of India recently reported that Mumbai was one of the most competitive cities to do business in the country.
