'No delays' for Manchester passengers
11/08/2006
Passengers at Manchester Airport should not encounter delays with their flights today, it has been claimed.
Flights from the air transport hub were affected yesterday following the foiled terror attacks on flights leaving the UK for the US.
However, according to a spokesman from the airport, today's services should be flying at the scheduled time, although check-in delays are expected.
As a result of the extra security measures being undertaken by Manchester Airport, the spokesman advises passengers to leave plenty of time to check-in their luggage.
"Check in is pretty normal for a Friday," he said.
"Security check-ins are slighty longer than usual but it's not delaying flights. It's minimal disruption at the moment but that may change later on. People are coming with no hand luggage which means check-in speeds up."
He adds that passengers should "just turn up as normal".
Manchester Piccadilly train station experienced delays this morning as a consequence of the extra vigilance being taken in public places across the country.
