Run the Manchester Mile
12/07/2006
Manchester residents still have time to sign up for the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile, which takes place on Saturday July 15th.
Signing up for the Manchester Mile will help raise money, via sponsorship, for the sporting charity that will help people around the world.
Manchester's milers will be joining tens of thousands of people in the UK competing in similar events at different venues up and down the country.
Setting off from Exchange Square in the city centre, participants will finish the mile in Cathedral Gardens.
Anyone signing up for the Manchester event will be issued with a red sock, to be worn on the route, and presented with the second sock once the mile has been completed.
The money raised goes towards vulnerable people in the UK and some of the poorest countries in the world.
Similar runs are taking place at exactly the same time in 11 other British cities, including Belfast, Glasgow and Cardiff.
