Sky Festival zooms into Manchester

04/08/2006

The Sky Festival comes to Manchester next weekend, bringing the A1 Grand Prix (A1GP) World Cup of Motorsport with it.

On the Sunday, six A1GP cars will race through the city centre on a 1.5km course that stretches from Corporation Street, through Albert Square and along Deansgate.

The race, which includes teams from Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, Malaysia, China and Lebanon, will be one of the final events of the three-day festival.

Manchester's Sky Festival is open to all members of the public and presents a variety of interactive features and entertainment outlets.

Sky is permitting festival visitors to try their hand at presenting the news or watch Brian Turner create some culinary delights for UKTV Food in Albert Square.

Additionally, sports fans can head to the Cstlefield Arena to watch the NatWest Cricket Roadshow or visit Old Trafford with MUTV.

All events, which also cover activities for children, film buffs and music fans, are free, but for some of the most popular offerings, tickets will be required.
