Transport bosses warn of Metroshuttle disruption
25/07/2008
Manchester's free bus service that connects all the train stations in the city will be disrupted over the coming weeks due to wide-ranging road works.
Metroshuttle, which carried 2.3 million passengers around the city centre last year, has stopped calling at Quay Street, Byrom Street and Hardman Street.
And from Friday August 1st, the junction of Deansgate, Quay Street and Peter Street will be closed, thereby causing further changes to routes.
In addition, a diversion for non-Metroshuttle bus services starts on Monday July 28th when Church Street will be closed to all inbound vehicles as engineers repair water mains.
Then from August 11th to September 8th, Church Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction, according to the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive.
As well as connecting all the train stations in the city, Metroshuttle buses, which have a frequency of about every five or ten minutes, travel to the main NCP car parks and call at many of the Metrolink tram stops.
