Worker killed in Rusholme bus collision
02/11/2006
A worker has died after falling from a crane into the path of a double-decker bus in Rusholme, Manchester.
It is thought that the UK North bus swerved to avoid something in the road before hitting a lamppost and colliding with the crane.
The impact caused the man, who was replacing windows on a building, to fall from the crane's bucket and become trapped under the bus.
Several passers-by were injured by flying glass and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have confirmed that a man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident.
