Adebayor plays down Arsenal exit rumours
06/06/2008
Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has played down talk of a summer move to Serie A giants AC Milan.
The Togo international has said he is "very happy" at the Emirates Stadium and has no desire to leave, dismissing the rumours that he could quit north London as "rubbish".
Adebayor enjoyed an excellent season as the figurehead of the Gunners attack following the departure of former captain Thierry Henry to Barcelona last summer.
And after comments from Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, who refused to rule out a move for Adebayor in an interview with Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, it seemed the big forward could be set to follow Mathieu Flamini out of the Emirates exit.
"There is a rule that states that you can't make a private agreement with a player who is under contract with another club," Galliani said.
"I don't know whether a new striker will arrive from England - we will see."
However, Adebayor quickly quashed the speculation, saying: "We have a great set of players here with a fantastic team spirit.
"We have had a good season, but next year we want to go one better by winning a trophy."
