Adebayor's agent claims striker close to AC Milan move
26/06/2008
Emmanuel Adebayor has a "70 to 80 per cent" chance of joining AC Milan, according to the Arsenal striker's agent.
Milan looked to have given up on Adebayor after the Gunners insisted the 24-year-old was not for sale.
But the forward's agent, Vincenzo Morabito, has sensationally revealed the 2007 European champions are close to sealing the deal.
Morabito claims Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already started hunting for a replacement for Adebayor.
"Milan have already stated their position, while Arsenal have started moving in the market in the hunt for an attacker to replace Adebayor," Morabito told Italian TV channel Mediaset.
"Until that search ends the deal won't move forward but I am quite optimistic because Arsenal are looking for a player. They're talking about (Mario) Gomez, (Roque) Santa Cruz, and (Peter) Crouch.
"I'd say there's a 70 to 80% chance Adebayor will go to Milan.
"With all respect to Arsenal, [Adebayor] would be very happy to play for the Rossoneri. Therefore, if the two clubs reach an agreement, the deal will be finalised."
Adebayor, who has also been linked with a switch to Barcelona, bagged 30 goals last season.
Newspaper reports claim the Togo striker is demanding the Gunners quadruple his wages to around £120,000 a week to make him the club's highest paid player.
