Alonso admits he still has eyes for 'Old Lady'
13/10/2008
Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has revealed that he still has his eyes on a move to Italian club Juventus.
The 26-year-old came close to signing for the Turin club in the summer, but Juventus pulled out of the move with manager Claudio Ranieri last week claiming he thought the Spaniard was "too slow".
But Alonso admitted that he hasn't fully ruled out the possibility of a transfer away from Anfield.
"To be honest, for my part, the attraction (to Juventus) has remained intact," Alonso told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"One thing I can say is that I personally appreciated the honesty of the club executives."
"They told me their tactics on the pitch were different and that is why they chose [Christian] Poulsen and not me.
"These are things that happen in football and it's fine. I could have gone but I didn't because, in the end, they chose someone else."
"Juventus are Juventus, the most prestigious club in Italy, but you cannot be disappointed when you play for Liverpool."
