Arshavin admits Barca "dream"
25/06/2008
Russian playmaker Andrei Arshavin has hinted at a possible move to FC Barcelona this summer after describing them as his "dream" club.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to the Spanish Primera Liga or the English Premier League after a series of dazzling performances for club and country in recent months.
And in an interview with the official Euro 2008 website, Arshavin has dropped the biggest hint yet that Spain could be his destination if he gets the move away from Uefa Cup champions Zenit St Petersburg as he so wishes.
"I have supported Barcelona all my life. Barcelona are my dream," he said.
"I never thought I would have a genuine chance to play for the club.
"Let's see how the situation unfolds. For now I can't say anything for sure."
Arshavin has been a revelation at this summer's European Championships, helping the unfancied Russian side to the semi-finals of the competition after scoring his side's third goal against the Netherlands in their quarter-final victory.
And rather than focus on his own future, he claimed he is only looking as far ahead as Thursday's last-four showdown with Spain in Vienna.
"At the moment I'm a player of team Russia and I'm only thinking about doing well in the semi-finals," he added.
