Arshavin admits England and Germany offers
23/06/2008
Russia playmaker Andrei Arshavin has admitted to receiving offers to play in England and Germany next season.
The Zenit St Petersburg star has seen his stock rise exponentially at the 2008 European Championships after playing a starring role in his country's remarkable run to the semi-finals.
And when asked about his future plans after the tournament is over, Arshavin admitted "perhaps the time has come" for him to leave his homeland to play in one of the top European leagues, citing Spain as his preferred destination.
"I know that I have offers from England and Germany, but what I really want is to play in the Primera Liga," he told Spanish newspaper AS.
"It's the championship that I have always followed, I like how football is played there. But for now, I have no offers from Spain."
Arshavin and his team-mates are currently preparing for Thursday's last-four encounter with Spain a team that comprehensively beat the Russians 4-1 in their opening match of the tournament.
However, the Zenit star - who has been widely touted as his country's main creative force - was suspended for that match but is expected to play a central role later this week.
