Aston Villa fan murder suspects released on bail
22/04/2008
Three men arrested over the murder of a man following the Aston Villa-Birmingham derby on Sunday have been bailed.
West Midlands police said the three men had been released pending further enquiries.
They had been arrested following the death of Christopher Paul Priest, 26, from Sutton Coldfield.
Mr Priest was pronounced dead at Birmingham's city hospital after being knocked down by a VW Golf on Aston Hall Road at 15:00 BST on Sunday.
He suffered fatal injuries in the collision, which took place outside Villa Park.
His mother Barbara said her son was a "wonderful" person who "didn't deserve this".
"He will be sadly missed by me, his dad Lee, sister Natalie and all his family," she said.
A 20-year-old man was arrested by West Midlands police on Sunday on suspicion of murder, while two other men aged 21 and 29 were arrested by Kent police on suspicion of murder and suspicion of assisting an offender.
