Bitter-sweet triumph for archer Folkard
12/08/2008
It was a mixed day for Great Britain's archers in Beijing as Naomi Folkard has progressed through to the quarter-final at the expense of team-mate Charlotte Burgess.
Burgess had beaten Chinas Guo Dan to set-up the showdown with Folkard, who had overcome Eyptian Soha Abed Elaal.
In a tense contest Folkard reached Thursday's quarter-final, beating Burgess 110-96.
Its never nice to beat your team mate and friend, Folkard said.
The killer instinct was perhaps more difficult to come by, but I had to block out who I was competing against.
We were extremely disappointed after the team competition, but now Ive got the biggest smile on my face, and Im ready to take each match as it comes on Thursday.
