12/08/2008
Britain's men's 4 x 200m freestyle relay team qualified for Wednesday's final by recording a British record time.
The quartet of David Carry, Andrew Hunter, Ross Davenport and Robbie Renwick finished second in their heat with 7.07.89 a time which ranked them fourth fastest of the qualifiers.
United States, Italy and Russia set the top three times in qualifying.
"I knew the team was swimming well but that was impressive, said a delighted Carry.
The US are way out in front but behind them are a number of strong teams pushing each other. Tomorrow will be intense, its so close but weve shown that Britain are up there.
In the womens 200m butterfly heats, Jemma Lowe finished third in her heat which took her to Wednesdays semi finals.
Team-mate Ellen Gandy finished seventh in the same race, meaning that she too will progress to the semi-finals.
In the mens 200m breast stroke Kristopher Gilchrist finished third in his heat, and is now ranked 15th of all tomorrows semi finalists.
