Cantona 'interested in managing Manchester United'
10/06/2008
Former Old Trafford legend Eric Cantona has stated he would be interested in taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager.
The former French international, who enjoyed cult hero status in his five years at the club, also said he would be interested in going into management if he could take charge of the England team.
Since his retirement from professional football in 1997 Cantona has tried his hand at a number of things, including amateur coaching, acting and even philosophy.
And although he said he is still enjoying a varied life, the 42-year-old does harbour ambitions of returning to the game in the future.
"Today I do exciting things and I am proving many things," Cantona told Sky Sports.
"Today I can enjoy it even more, but maybe in the future, in a few years' time when Ferguson retires, yeah, why not? I'd love to."
In the interview, Cantona was quite specific about the only two teams he would be willing to manage - leaving the door open for a possible return to English shores.
