Capello reveals Olympic "dream"
13/11/2008
England boss Fabio Capello has claimed it would be a "dream come true" for him to be offered the chance to coach a Great Britain football team at the 2012 Olympics.
The Italian has begun his career as England manager with four consecutive competitive wins, including a superb 4-1 win away to Croatia in a 2010 World Cup qualifier.
And after it emerged that world governing body Fifa would have no opposition to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland forming a coalition side for the Olympics in London in four years' time, Capello's name has been mentioned as a potential coach.
"I'll be 66 by then and will have reached retirement age," Capello, whose current England contract expires in 2012, told Fifa Magazine.
"I'd like to make my dream come true by taking part in an Olympic Games.
"It's something I was denied as a player and it still fills me with regret."
Capello also backed plans for a GB team, despite opposition from some quarters of the British Isles.
"It's only fair that Great Britain should have a team at the Olympics," he added.
"But it is up to others to decide how, and with which players."
