Chelsea 'offer' £27 million for Brazil star Robinho
29/06/2008
Chelsea have launched a £27 million bid for Real Madrid winger Robinho, according to reports.
Spanish newspaper AS claims the Blues have offered around 35 million euros for the Brazil star.
Luiz Felipe Scolari will start work at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday and reportedly has Robinho at the top of his shopping list.
Scolari worked with Robinho while he was in charge of the Brazil side that lifted the 2002 World Cup.
The ex-Portugal coach told Blues owner Roman Abramovich and sporting director Frank Arnesen to make an offer for Robinho, AS claims.
Madrid sporting director Pedrag Mijatovic is thought to be holding out for around £35 million.
The Spanish champions want to raise more money to launch a bid for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
Robinho would slip down the pecking order if the Portuguese ace completes a world record move to the Bernabeu.
Robinho had an impressive 2007/08 campaign with Madrid, with 11 goals and 14 assists.
The 24-year-old, who has 15 goals in 50 caps for Brazil, can also play as a second striker.
If Chelsea sign the winger, it could spell the end of Shaun Wright-Phillips' career at Stamford Bridge. The England midfielder has today been linked with a switch to Portsmouth.
