Davies puts pen to paper on Trotters contract
28/08/2008
Bolton Wanderers forward Kevin Davies has signed a new three-year contract that ties him to the club until at least 2011.
The 31-year-old, who joined from Southampton on a free transfer in the summer of 2003, will extend his stay at the Reebok Stadium to eight years.
Since his arrival in Lancashire, the Yorkshireman has made himself a firm favourite among the fans - scoring on his debut against local rivals Blackburn Rovers (a former club) in August 2003.
Davies has gone on to net 41 times for the Trotters and won the player of the year award in 2007/08 as he played a major part in helping the club survive a relegation battle.
He becomes the third player to commit his long-term future to the club, following similar contract agreements with first-choice goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and defender Ricardo Gardner.
