Dawson denies misconduct charge
22/10/2008
Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson has denied a Football Association charge of improper conduct against Stoke City.
The 24-year-old was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Mamady Sidibe in the dying moments of Sunday's 2-1 defeat at the Britannia Stadium.
However, Dawson has been charged for his reaction to that dismisal by referee Lee Mason.
The centre-back faces an automatic three-match ban for the sending off and could have that suspension increased by two games if found guilty of showing a lack of respect towards the official.
If found guilty it will be a bitter blow to Tottenham manager Juande Ramos who needs all possible players at his disposal if he is to get them out of their current dismal situation.
Spurs prop up the Premier League table with just two points from eight games - a lower points total than Derby had at this stage last season - and face an extremely tricky tie away to Italian side Udinese in the Uefa Cup on Thursday.
The Italians are currently in second place in Serie A.
