Delighted Grant feels pressure now firmly on United

26/04/2008

Chelsea manager Avram Grant believes his side are still very much in the Premier League title race after winning 2-1 against Manchester United today.

A Michael Ballack double helped the Blues win 2-1 at Stamford Bridge and though United will win the league on goal difference if they win their last two games, Grant feels the pressure is firmly on the defending champions.

"We did what we needed to do, we won the game here against Manchester United," said Grant. "I think we have put them under pressure. We need to do what we have to do and we needed to win the game.

"I'm very proud of what we are doing this year, especially as this is not the first time. We did it against Arsenal and we did it today.

"We have a lot of courage and a lot of character was shown again, and we also played good football today."

United have a plus-16 goal difference over Chelsea, which means that if they win at home to West Ham next Saturday and away at Wigan on the final day of the season, then Sir Alex Ferguson's men will retain their title, even if Chelsea win their remaining games.

Grant, however, remained in a positive mood and insisted that "it is not easy when you are under pressure to win two games," in reference to the position in which United find themselves.

Chelsea now turn their attention to the Champions League semi-final second-leg against Liverpool on Wednesday. They then travel to Newcastle the following Monday before finishing the league campaign with a home game against Bolton. ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18569433-ADNFCR
