Eduardo 'three weeks away from Arsenal return'
23/10/2008
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed long-term injury victim Eduardo is only three weeks away from a return to first-team football.
The striker suffered a horrific broken and dislocated ankle in a Premier League match against Birmingham City on February 23rd and, at the time, several experts questioned whether the Croatian international would ever play again.
Eduardo was forced to miss Euro 2008 to undergo a full rehabilitation on his ankle, with some pundits suggesting it could be as long as 18 months.
However, Wenger believes the 25-year-old will return by mid-November after staging a full recovery.
"Eduardo is three weeks away from playing competitive football," the manager told the Arsenal AGM.
The good news on Eduardo's injury was tempered somewhat by the latest developments regarding Tomas Rosicky.
The Czech international, who has been out since January with a hamstring problem, also missed last summer's European tournament.
But Wenger believes it will be touch and go whether he plays again this year.
"He should be back after Christmas," the Gunners boss added.
