Ex-Celtic man Miller 'set to join Rangers'
05/06/2008
Former Celtic striker Kenny Miller is in line to join his ex-club's Glasgow rivals Rangers this summer, according to Derby County chairman Adam Pearson.
Miller is currently contracted to the Rams, who were relegated from the Premier League last season with a record low points total.
The Scotland international found it tough to hold down a regular place in the starting XI at Pride Park and he has reportedly been told by manager Paul Jewell that he is free to look elsewhere ahead of next season.
And Pearson, who is keen to help Jewell build a side to challenge for promotion next season, has told the Scottish Daily Express newspaper that Miller has his heart set on a reunion with former national team boss Walter Smith at Ibrox.
"The two clubs have agreed a deal and we are reasonably happy with the package, so it is now down to Kenny to sort things out with Rangers," Pearson told the publication.
"I don't envisage any problems because Kenny is keen to go to Rangers and Rangers are keen to sign him.
"We have had one firm offer and three serious enquiries about signing him but Kenny told us he wasn't interested because he wants to go to Rangers."
The 28-year-old's arrival at the Gers is likely to cause some outrage among the hardcore of the club's fanbase.
Miller played for Rangers between 2000 and 2001 and, after a brief spell in England at Wolves, he moved back north of the border to sign for the Bhoys in 2006.
He was chastised for the move by many fans of the Light Blues and is unlikely to find many friends on the terraces if and when he returns.
