Ferguson happy with goalless draw in Nou Camp
24/04/2008
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says he is content with a 0-0 draw from the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.
Cristiano Ronaldo missed a second-minute penalty for the visitors - one of few clear-cut chances during a mainly uninspiring affair in Catalunya.
And after the home side appeared to pose more of a threat going forward for the remainder of the match, Ferguson declared he was more than happy to accept a goalless draw ahead of the return leg at Old Trafford.
"It was a professional performance," he told Sky Sports.
"We sealed off the areas that teams often struggle with against Barcelona.
"They didn't make a lot of chances although they had a lot of possession around the edge of our box, our concentration was very good."
Ferguson criticised his side for giving the ball away too easily and admitted his team - who normally pose such a threat on the counter-attack had been below-par going forward.
Nevertheless, the manager remains positive about United's chances for the second leg next week.
"Possession is always going to be in their favour at their ground, but at Old Trafford we hope to reverse that," he added.
"In the context, 0-0 here gives us a marvellous chance [to go through]."
