Ferguson pleased with "emphatic" performance
05/10/2008
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson was delighted with his side's performance in their 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers yesterday.
Ferguson claimed the trip to Ewood Park was always one of their toughest away matches and he was happy to have got all three points from the match.
United are now up to sixth in the league following back-to-back wins. Ferguson feels his side are beginning to gel and are using their possession to excellent effect.
He said: "This is one of the most difficult grounds to come to. We've lost and drawn games, but today was a really emphatic performance. The confidence of the team was outstanding and everyone was on song.
"It was a really good performance, and the reason for that is that everyone's use of the ball was spot on."
Forward Wayne Rooney scored one and set up another during the match, showing that he should be fit enough to play for England in the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.
However, Ferguson says from United's perspective he will be pleased once the internationals have finished and he can get his players to solely concentrate on the club.
The Scot believes the run up to Christmas will be vital and expects to close the gap between his club and the league leaders during that period.
He said: "We never really get settled until the internationals are all completely over.
"Once this is over, hopefully we'll get back into our rhythm quickly. Throughout November I expect us to really get going."
United's first game after the World Cup qualifiers is against in-form West Brom before a trip to Celtic in the Champions League.
