Ferguson ready for Aalborg's "battlers"
30/09/2008
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has vowed his players will not be taking anything for granted against Danish minnows Aalborg in their Champions League tie.
The European champions travel to the compact Aalborg Stadion, which is more than seven times smaller than Old Trafford with a capacity of just 10,500, looking to pick up their first win in the competition this season.
But Ferguson, who watched his side draw 0-0 with Villarreal on matchday one, is keen to avoid a repeat of the 1-0 defeat his United side suffered against Danish opposition in the form of FC Copenhagan in 2006.
"I don't have any fears about complacency with this side," the United boss said.
"We made a mistake with the team against Copenhagen and ended up scrapping to qualify [from the group]. This time I will play my strongest team."
Ferguson's comments suggest he will field players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Dimitar Berbatov in a bid to take all three points from the trip.
But even with such undoubted talent on show, the Scot remains keen not to downplay United's opponents.
"Aalborg were lucky to get a draw at Celtic but they will be at home and my old mate Bruce Rioch will have them fired up," Ferguson added.
"They are playing Manchester United, they will have a sell-out crowd and the whole town will be up for it.
"Danish clubs are always battlers."
