Fulham loan Volz to Ipswich
28/08/2008
Fulham defender Moritz Volz has joined Championship side Ipswich Town on a season-long loan deal.
The Cottagers fan favourite has fallen out of favour in west London since Roy Hodgson took over, while also seeing his playing time severely restricted by a series of injuries.
However, the player is expected to play a major part in the Tractor Boys' campaign as they look to regain their top-flight status this season.
"We're delighted that Moritz has joined us and he will be in the squad for Saturday's game against Watford," Town boss Jim Magilton told the club's official website.
"He's a top professional who has spent his career in England playing at Premier League level.
"He's believes he is a Premier League player. I believe that as well so we have got a very good player on our hands.
"He will add some extra quality to the squad and is another step towards taking us where we want to be."
Volz, who moved to England from Schalke 04 in 2000 to join Arsenal, has made more than 100 appearances for Fulham since joining on a permanent deal in 2004 following a successful loan spell.
He never played a first-team game for the Gunners in his three seasons in north London.
