Grant confident Terry will recover for final
12/05/2008
Chelsea manager Avram Grant is confident captain John Terry can recover in time to play in the Champions League final next week.
Terry was stretchered off after just 11 minutes during the Blues' 1-1 draw against Bolton yesterday and was taken immediately to hospital.
Although the injury initially looked serious, Terry was back at Stamford Bridge by the end of the game to salute the home fans for their support this season.
The centre-half has dislocated his elbow but Grant says he never underestimates Terry's determination to play.
Grant said he was reminded of the way Terry bounced back from swallowing his tongue when playing in the Carling Cup final last season and knows his captain will do everything he can to lead the team out in Moscow next Wednesday.
The Blues boss said: "He didn't break his elbow, but we need to wait and see. We will know more in a few days.
"I am waiting and don't want to see the day John Jerry is not confident, like he was after the injury against Arsenal. He is strong and we have ten days until the final, so we don't need to take the decision now."
Grant says he will not rush the decision about whether to play Terry and will seek the input of the Chelsea medical staff first.
"We need to see that he is fit to play, with his character I am sure there are not any problems. It is always the decision of everyone, first the medical department, but don't rush, we have time," said Grant.
Chelsea also have injury doubts about striker Didier Drogba who injured his knee during yesterday's match.
