Grant explains Chelsea job change snub
27/05/2008
Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant has explained why he knocked back an offer to return to his director of football role at the club.
Grant, who was sacked last weekend, said the opportunity to move back upstairs was "not a good move for me".
"I understand the offer and why it was made but I thought that from my point of view it was not the correct move," Grant revealed.
The Israeli is being linked with Sven-Goran Eriksson's job at Manchester City, with the Swede under pressure from owner Thaksin Shinawatra after what the former Thai prime minister perceived as a disappointing season.
On his chances of staying in the Premier League at Eastlands, Grant added: "I can't say anything at the moment. If there will be something we'll talk, at the moment nothing is happening."
Grant left Chelsea after owner Roman Abramovich deemed a second place finish in the Premier League and defeat in the Champions League final as not good enough.
Despite his sacking, Grant insists there are no hard feelings.
"Roman gave me the opportunity and what I had to say to him was that I love the club and now each of us goes his own way," the 53-year-old said.
"It was a great time, I enjoyed very much to be at Chelsea; I breathed the club 24 hours a day during the time I was in charge."
