Hughes: We lacked creativity
04/12/2008
Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has admitted his side lacked creativity in their goalless draw with Paris St Germain in the Uefa Cup.
The Blues' boss rested a number of his top stars for the match, including Robinho and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
And it showed in a disjointed performance, which saw the recalled Darius Vassell and Elano waste the home side's best two chances.
"We didn't create a great deal," Hughes conceded.
"PSG made it difficult, got a lot of men behind the ball and we weren't able to create anything to unlock the door."
Brazilian youngster Jo, who signed for the club in the summer, also featured up front against the French side.
And although he made little impression on the game, Hughes has backed him to be a success at the club.
"Jo is a young player - the only way he'll improve and make an impact is by getting games and getting confidence in his play," he continued.
"It's been tough for him in recent weeks but it was difficult for a lot of our players against PSG, not just him."
