Impatient Maradona threatens to quit
13/11/2008
Diego Maradona has threatened to quit his job as manager of the Argentina national team just days after been appointed to the role.
The Argentina legend was officially confirmed as their new manager on November 4th and is due to have his first match in charge in Glasgow against Scotland next week.
Maradona has now threatened to quit, however, if he is not allowed to appoint Oscar Ruggeri as his assistant.
"I will be the trainer with my technical staff I want, otherwise I will not come to Glasgow," Maradona said.
Carlos Bilardo, who was appointed as the Argentina FA's technical director at the same time as Maradona insists that he will not carry out his threat.
"He won't resign," Bilardo said.
"I have spoken to Diego and told him he has to go slowly. There are 500 people he can choose to assist him."
"When I coached the national team (between 1983 and 1990) I had to change my whole staff after four or five months of work.
"But Diego wants them all at once."
