Inter do not need Drogba insists Ibrahimovic
29/11/2008
Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists Chelsea forward Didier Drogba is not needed at the San Siro despite reports linking him with a switch to Italy.
Rumours suggest the Ivorian would like to join up once more with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho at Inter.
The same reports say out-of-favour Brazilian striker Adriano could be sold to help fund the move but Inter have dismissed the claims.
Ibrahimovic, the main forward at Inter this season, has also insisted his side can perform without the need to bring in new strikers.
"He [Drogba] is a great player, one that thanks to his physical strength scores so many goals," the Sweden international told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
"But when it comes to great strikers we already have plenty.
"Adriano for example can make a massive difference if he's fit. I really enjoy playing alongside him and he creates a lot of space for me."
Inter are currently top of Serie A, three points clear of city rivals AC Milan but have struggled a little in a relatively straight forward Champions League group.
Mourinho's men lost 1-0 at home to Panathinaikos and although they are top of their group on eight points they must beat Werder Bremen to guarantee their place in the knockout stages.
Inter have only won two of their Champions League matches so far this season leading to some discontent amongst supporters about Mourinho's reign and style of management.
