Leicester City make approach to MK Dons for Ince
04/06/2008
Leicester City have made an approach to MK Dons to speak to their manager Paul Ince about taking over at the Walkers Stadium.
The Foxes are currently without a manager having sacked Ian Holloway following their relegation from the Championship last season.
MK Dons confirmed they had received an approach from the Foxes but said nothing would be resolved until Ince returned from holiday.
The Dons will be in direct competition with Leicester next season having finished top of League Two.
The club may therefore be reticent to let their sought-after boss leave for a managerial position which is in the same division.
Earlier in the season Ince was linked with the vacant positions at Premier League clubs Wigan and Derby County, but chose to stay with the Dons.
A statement from the Dons said: "The club can confirm that Leicester City have made an official approach to speak to Paul Ince about the vacant managerial position at the Walkers Stadium.
"As has been well documented, this is not the first time we have had to deal with interest in Paul's services and, given his achievements last season, it comes as no surprise that we find ourselves at this juncture again."
Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric has previously said he wishes to have a successor for Holloway in place by mid-June.
Ince has enjoyed a successful time at the start of his managerial career, keeping Macclesfield Town in League Two before lifting the Johnstone's Paint Trophy with the Dons and gaining promotion this season.
