Lennon hails 'Harry Houdini'
23/11/2008
Aaron Lennon has hailed Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp for boosting his confidence after the winger helped his side to a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers.
The 21-year-old ripped Rovers apart and set up the winning goal for striker Roman Pavlyuckenko on nine minutes.
Lennon was employed on the left and got the better of fullback Martin Olsson on numerous occasions, with the Swede given his marching orders for a second booking for tripping the midfielder in the first half.
And the England hopeful said Redknapp has improved him as a player since he took over last month.
"I've been getting better and better I think since the new boss has come in and today was probably my best performance," the England winger told Sky Sports.
"But it's not just me it's everyone in general - he's given us confidence and freedom to play and I think that's it really. He's given me licence to get at people and that's my game really.
"It's been a hard start to the season and now we're glad to get out of [the bottom three] again. Hopefully we can carry on and push up the table now.
"We had a good few chances in the first half and could have killed the game off, especially once they went down to ten men. But sometimes that's what you've got to do, you've just got to work hard and hang on at 1-0 and we'll take that. We're happy with that."
Tottenham's next league assignment is against Everton next Sunday at White Hart Lane.
