MK Dons rebuff Foxes' approach for Ince

13/06/2008

The Milton Keynes Dons have turned down an approach from Leicester City to speak to their manager Paul Ince.

The Foxes were keen to speak to the former Macclesfield Town boss about taking over the reigns at the Walkers Stadium following the sacking of Ian Holloway at the end of their unsuccessful battle against relegation from the Championship.

Several commentators had suggested Ince would be keen to discuss a possible role at Leicester, who will be in the same division as the Dons in 2008/09.

But Ince's club have released a statement today confirming their manager will remain at Stadium:MK next season after their League Two championship-winning campaign in 2007/08.

"Following discussions between the chairman and Paul Ince, it has been decided that Paul will not be pursuing the opportunity at Leicester City," the statement reads.

"Given Paul's success in his emerging managerial career, it can come as no surprise that speculation continues to see his name linked with a number of managerial vacancies.

"In spite of this, as we look forward to the forthcoming League One season, the club remains committed to keeping the hottest young manager in English football at Stadium:MK."ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18637943-ADNFCR
