Moyes' future at Everton uncertain
10/05/2008
The future of Everton manager David Moyes remains uncertain after he revealed there have been no plans made to discuss an extension to his contract.
Moyes' current deal is due to expire at the end of next season but the Scot says he is yet to receive a concrete offer from the club.
He has assured Toffees fans he plans to be in charge of the side next season and has no plans to leave the club. However, he admits it is a strange feeling preparing for next season without a long-term deal in place.
The 45-year-old says the delay with sorting out a new contract is entirely down to the club and has urged chairman Bill Kenwright to schedule further discussions.
Moyes told the Daily Mail: "My job is here and I am under contract for another year. I will be here next season unless I am told differently but beyond that I don't know.
"It may seem strange to be preparing for another season with just one year on your contract but maybe that is a question for the chairman."
Moyes says he was not offered a contract the last time he met with the club and has not been contacted about further talks since.
He said: "We had some discussions two months ago but there has been nothing since. I haven't actually been offered a new contract and nothing has been mentioned about holding more talks."
While Moyes has no long-term deal in place there is always the danger that another club may try and poach him from Everton as the compensation would not be as high with his contract gradually running down.
