Neville commits to Toffees
25/07/2008
Everton captain Phil Neville has signed a new four-year contract that will see him stay at Goodison Park until 2012.
The versatile player already had two years left on his current deal but said he was "really proud" to commit his future to the club.
Neville, 31, said he has "loved every minute" of his three seasons with Everton since signing from boyhood club Manchester United in 2005.
"I'd like to think that I have immersed myself into the club culture," he told the club's official TV station.
"It's something I had to do after being at one club for about 16 years but it was easy for me to do because from day one this club sucks you in.
"Loyalty is a big thing in my life and this is the only club that I want to play for. It's a great club and I want to finish my career here."
Neville has won the majority of his 59 England caps at full-back, the position he was most often employed in by Alex Ferguson at United.
But since moving to Everton he has most-commonly featured as a defensive midfielder.
