O'Hara agrees contract extension with Spurs
12/05/2008
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie O'Hara has signed a new three-year contract to keep him at White Hart Lane until at least 2011.
The versatile 21-year-old, who can play as a central or left-sided midfielder or at left-back, has been rewarded for breaking into the Spurs first team this season under new head coach Juande Ramos.
O'Hara has scored twice in his 25 appearances at club level this season and has also been capped by the England under-21s and won the club's young player of the year award.
"The boss is building a squad that is going to be up there challenging for honours and to be told that I am part of his long-term plans by giving me a three-year deal is good for me," boyhood Spurs fan O'Hara said.
"I just want to keep showing him that I want to progress and become one of the top players at Tottenham Hotspur.
"To have another three seasons at the club that I have always wanted to play for is great and now I just can't wait for pre-season to begin."
Ramos himself added: "Jamie has earned his time on the pitch this season. He has come a long way in a short space of time so I congratulate him and this new contract is recognition of his efforts.
"If he continues in the same vein he will become a very important player for us.
"Jamie is an example to all the young players at the club in that reaching the first team can be achieved through hard work and giving the best of yourself."
