Pompey reveal delight at Milan draw
07/10/2008
Portsmouth Chief Executive Peter Storrie has revealed the club's delight at drawing AC Milan in the group stages of the Uefa Cup.
Milan will visit Fratton Park on Thursday November 27th, and the FA Cup winners will also face Portuguese side Braga, Dutch side Heerenveen and German's Wolfsburg.
"I know a lot of our fans would have loved the chance to see Pompey play in the San Siro, but bringing AC Milan to Fratton Park is really as big as it gets in Europe," Storrie said.
"I know our fans, the players and everyone connected with the club will really be up for this one and I think the atmosphere is going to something else.
Storrie also said the fact that the likes of Ronaldinho and Kaka will be lining up at Fratton Park ina competitive fixture shows just how far the club has come in the last few seasons.
"To bring Milan to our ground in something other than a pre-season friendly really does represent the progress we have made at our club.
"Everybody connected with the club deserves to savour the night such a big occasion on the big stage."
