Potters move for Faye
08/08/2008
Charlton midfielder Amdy Faye is being given a trial at Stoke City, the Premier League newcomers said on Friday.
The 31-year-old, who has 18 caps for Senegal, could feature in tonight's friendly match against Osasuna.
If the former Portsmouth and Newcastle United player impresses boss Tony Pulis he could become the club's fourth signing of the summer.
New arrivals Thomas Sorensen, Dave Kitson and Seyi Olofinjana are all expected to make their debuts at the Brtiannia Stadium tonight.
"Charlton Athletic star Amdy Faye has joined the Potters on loan and could feature in this evening's game against Osasuna," a statement from Stoke said of Faye, who spent last season on loan at Rangers.
Charlton meanwhile said Faye no longer featured in boss Alan Pardew's plans.
"The Senegal international returned to the Valley from Ibrox in the summer, but Addicks boss Alan Pardew admitted recently that the former Newcastle United man was unlikely to remain in SE7 for the forthcoming Championship season," a statement said.
