Queiroz slaps world record fee on United starlet Ronaldo
15/04/2008
Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has claimed the club are not prepared to sell Cristiano Ronaldo, regardless of the money on offer.
After interest from Real Madrid head coach Bernd Schuster, who earlier this year said he would love to have the Portuguese international at the Bernabeu, Queiroz has sought to ward off any potential suitors.
Ronaldo has enjoyed a stellar campaign, scoring 37 goals in all competitions despite playing largely as a winger.
And Queiroz said his countryman, who is still only 23, is worth more than "all the money in the world" and would not be sold any time soon.
"We would not sell him for 120 million euros (£96 million)," Queiroz told Spanish newspaper Marca.
"You can offer all the money in the world, but there is no amount that can buy him."
Ronaldo, who joined United from Sporting Lisbon for £12.2 million in 2003, has previously spoken of his desire to return to the Iberian peninsula at some point later in his career.
However, he has also revealed he is perfectly happy at Old Trafford for now and has no pressing desire to move on.
