Rangers learn opponents for Champions League qualifier

01/07/2008

Scottish Premier League runners-up Rangers have learned their opponents for the second qualifying round ahead of next season's Champions League.

The Uefa Cup finalists will play either Lithuanian title-holders FBK Kaunas or Andorran side FC Santa Coloma over two legs, with the first match at Ibrox at the end of July.

The Gers are joined in the second round by a number of other automatic qualifiers, including last season's quarter-finalists Fenerbahce of Turkey.

Belgian side Anderlecht will be up against FC BATE Borisov of Belarus or Iceland's Valur Reykjavik, and Sparta Prague have been drawn with Moldova's FC Sheriff or Kazakhstan's FK Aktobe.

Greek giants Panathinaikos face Georgia's Dinamo Tbilisi or NSI Runavik from the Faroe Islands in the second stage.

Aside from Rangers, the other teams involved from the British Isles have been handed a mixed bag in their draws.

Linfield of Northern Ireland have a tough task against Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb, although Welsh side Llanelli have a slightly easier tie against Ventspils of Latvia.

The Republic of Ireland's Drogheda United face Levadia Tallinn of Estonia, although the winner must play perennial group stage qualifiers Dynamo Kiev.ADNFCR-8000014-ID-18665012-ADNFCR
