Redknapp pleased with Bent goal
04/12/2008
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp said he was pleased to see out-of-form striker Darren Bent get back among the goals in his side's Carling Cup win at Watford.
The England striker slotted home the winner for the holders as they saw off the Championship strugglers in the quarter-final at Vicarage Road last night.
And Redknapp, whose arrival at White Hart Lane coincided with an initial run of good form for Bent, welcomed the forward hitting the net again after going five games without a goal in all competitions since early November.
"He had a great spell [when I arrived] then he had a couple of weeks where he wasn't doing as well as he had when he was scoring," Redknapp told Sky Sports.
"I told him he had to get back to that.
"I thought he took his foot off the pedal but he came on and scored and I am pleased for him."
Spurs' win puts them into the last four of the competition for the third successive season.
In 2006/07 they lost out to north London rivals Arsenal over two legs before gaining revenge and going on to lift the trophy the following season.
